We are facing a huge energy crisis. The price of gas has almost doubled in America over that last 5 years while in Europe they are expected to touch $12/gallon by the end of 2008. Looking at the current trend, there are no signs that this energy crisis will end in the foreseeable future.

In fact, the entire oil crisis is quite logical given the fact that we humans have been exploiting our natural resources for the last 150 years or so. Although, at the height of industrial revolution, these resources were perceived to be everlasting, now we know for fact that this is simply not true. Moreover, there are growing concerns worldwide over the increase in green house gases due to the usage of petroleum based products.

All of this really leaves us with only one option, which is to look for alternative fuels for our energy demands. Although, the talk over alternative fuels has been going on since the early 1990’s, nothing concrete has been done in this regard.
